Quick Status Update
4/20/2010

Hey all ... just a brief update I'm a little behind on emails, mailorder and any wholesale/trade orders arranged in the past few weeks ... had to go out of town for a little bit this past week/weekend but I'm going to try and get completely caught up by this Thursday.

Anyone who has emailed me and hasn't heard back ... hopefully I'll get to you by Thursday too. Thanks for your patience.

As always, email me at gravemistakerecords@gmail.com if you had any questions or needed anything.

Running low on the Night Birds 7" with Stamped sleeve as well as the first pressing of the Ergs "Thrash Compactor" 7" so grab those now if you haven't yet because they might not last too much longer ... Awesome webstore update coming soon (probably early next week) so keep an eye out.

Thanks for reading!

NIGHT BIRDS 7" OUT NOW!!!
4/01/2010

For the third Grave Mistake release of 2010, I couldn't be more thrilled to announce that the debut 7" EP from New Jersey's NIGHT BIRDS is now available! Five tracks of killer southern California influenced hardcore punk peppered nicely with some wicked surf guitar licks, and topped with just the right amount of melody ... so if bands like JFA, Agent Orange, and Adolescents are up your alley, you should probably pick this 7" up! This EP delivers up four catchy little rippers and closes with an awesome surf-punk-esque instrumental. All around a wonderful record and I'm honored to be a part of it! You can check out the track PROGNOSIS: NEGATIVE from the record HERE.

CLICK HERE TO ORDER THE NIGHT BIRDS 7"!

For the first press, which is now available in the Grave Mistake webstore, the band wanted to do something a little different and make their own sleeves ... so they went ahead and made the full layout into five individual rubber stamps, then proceeded to stamp all of the sleeves by hand. There are 500 of these ... so with 5 stamps, well you can do the math on that one. Needless to say each sleeve looks different and each one looks awesome in it's own way.

This release is a split with the one and only Dirtnap Records which is easily one of my favorite labels, so it was a pleasure to be able to share this release with them. Each label has 200 copies of this release ... maybe a few other distros will get copies but for now this version is only available through our labels and the band. Second press with printed sleeves will be available shortly as well, so distros and labels please get in touch for wholesale orders or trades!

Also if you missed it a few weeks ago, THE ERGS "THRASH COMPACTOR" 7" is also now available! I spent the first half of this week packaging up and and mailing out all of the preorders, so thanks to everyone who preordered and thanks for your patience. The record is still available (although the red vinyl is long gone) so grab that if you haven't yet!

In other news, I'll be at Macrock (www.macrock.org) in Harrisonburg, VA this Friday and Saturday. I'll be tabling for GRAVE MISTAKE and for the INDEPENDENT LABEL COLLECTIVE ... I'll have the new releases plus some other fun stuff so if you plan on being there stop by and say hi! I will also be on a panel of some sorts with the illustrious Brent Eyestone.

In other release news, DEEP SLEEP are almost finished mixing their LP and THE LADIES just finished recording their new 7" as well! More news on those later, but I'm excited to get started on them and can't wait for them to be out!

That's all for now ... thanks for reading and feel free to get in touch for anything!!!

ERGS "THRASH COMPACTOR" UPDATE!
3/29/2010

Thanks to everyone who preordered The Ergs "Thrash Compactor" 7"! I got the covers in at the end of the last week and am now getting all of the orders packed up. I hope to have the bulk of orders in the mail on Wednesday. If you have any questions about your order, feel free to email me.

Any distros or stores that want wholesale copies please email me at gravemistakerecords@gmail.com. Labels looking to trade hit me up as well.

Keep an eye out later this week for the NIGHT BIRDS 7" ... we are looking to have the record available for order this Friday (April 2nd) both here and on the Dirtnap Records website. First press is 500 stamped sleeves ... the artwork was actually made into rubber stamps and stamped on the covers by the band so each one looks different. This press also comes with a sticker too. Each label has 200 copies and the band had 100 being sold on their tour this past weekend (and record release show next week) ... distro copies on this press will be limited but second press won't be far behind. Those will have regular printed covers. As always, labels, stores and distros looking to get copies please hit me up.

Thanks for reading and everyone waiting for Ergs 7" thanks for your patience.

THE ERGS "THRASH COMPACTOR" PREORDERS / UPCOMING RELEASES / MORE!
3/17/2010

I. NEW RELEASE - THE ERGS "THRASH COMPACTOR" preorders up now!!!
II. UP NEXT! NIGHT BIRDS, DEEP SLEEP, THE LADIES!
III. NIGHT BIRDS and DEEP SLEEP TOURS (and some other stuff)

This might be the first proper GRAVE MISTAKE label update for 2010 ... I wanted to do this a month ago, but oh well. Here it is ... some exciting things in the works for the upcoming months, and a brand new 7" out now!

*************************************

I. THE ERGS "THRASH COMPACTOR" 7" now available for PREORDER!

Finally after about three years of talking about it, THE ERGS "THRASH COMPACTOR" 7" will finally see the light of day! I think it was November 2006 when Brian from Psyched to Die / Night Birds told me about the mysterious ERGS "Thrash Compactor" session that never made it to it's intended vinyl release. After a few months and some strategic planning, followed by a few more years of waiting, The Ergs breaking up, then some more months of planning, then a couple more months of me being lazy/busy (mostly lazy) ... well I'll spare you the juicy/boring details ... just fast forward to 2010 and here we are!

Sure it may have taken a little longer than expected, but it's almost out and that's all that matters. Five ripping hardcore blasts on a one sided 7" ... I know you are probably asking yourself, is this record really necessary? The answer ... YES, yes it is. Get it, you won't be disappointed.

You can order it in the GRAVE MISTAKE WEBSTORE: www.gravemistakerecords.com/catalog

There are 200 copies on sweet looking RED vinyl with a special red printed cover, and that is available from both GRAVE MISTAKE and FIRESTARTER so decide which one of us you like better and order it.

Vinyl is in (actually it's been here since January!) and covers are being printed this week (so says Mike Riley), so hopefully by the weekend we can have everything assembled and start shipping next week ... but things might get delayed so it might not be until the following week. Either way, the wait won't be too horrific so hurry up and order one before the colored vinyl is gone! And if you miss out, the black vinyl sounds just as good I promise.

II. UPCOMING RELEASES! NIGHT BIRDS 7", DEEP SLEEP 12", and THE LADIES 7"

GRAVE040: NIGHT BIRDS "S/T" 7"

Up next (right around the corner) is the debut 7" EP from New Jersey's NIGHT BIRDS. NIGHT BIRDS features some guys from some bands that you might have heard before, and they are awesome. Killer southern california influenced hardcore punk peppered nicely with some wicked surf guitar licks, and topped with just the right amount of melody ... so if bands like JFA, Agent Orange, and Adolescents are up your alley, you should probably check this band out. And just so you know they mean business, you get a nice little surf instrumental on the B-side.

This release will be a split with the one and only DIRTNAP RECORDS, so if for some wacky reason you don't trust the GRAVE MISTAKE seal of approval, surely DIRTNAP is a name you can get behind. First press will come in 500 hand stamped sleeves, so each one gets it's own special touch ... these will be available from the band and both labels. We are shooting for an APRIL 6th release ... the test pressings have been approved so hopefully we'll have these slabs for you soon!

GRAVE041: THE LADIES ... as of yet untitled NEW 7"

This will be the FOURTH 7" from Richmond's THE LADIES ... by now you should know what to expect. Offensive, abrasive, insulting punk rock and roll. And you know you love it, you love being degraded by a bunch of grown men calling themselves "THE LADIES." I asked Tony Bitch to play me the practice tape he had so I could hear what the new songs sounded like before I agreed to do the record, but he opted to just serenade me with an unplugged and out of tune electric guitar instead. After playing each song, he would recite the lyrics to me like a poem. One word ... brilliance. How could I say no to that? Is the world ready for another LADIES record? In all honesty ... who gives a shit, they are getting one anyways. Expect this sometime in MAY 2010.

GRAVE042: DEEP SLEEP "TURN ME OFF" 12"

Yes, it's true ... after three 7"s, DEEP SLEEP have decided that the world is finally ready for a 12" release! This will be ten brand new songs; they are in the mixing stages now. I have been hearing nothing but good things from the band about how the record is turning out, so I'm stoked ... from what I've been told, the fast parts are faster and the melodic parts are more melodic (including some three part DOUGHBOYS-esque harmonies), so best of both worlds. I would imagine that if you are a fan of what DEEP SLEEP has been doing over the years, you will probably be into this!

Not sure when this LP is gonna be ready, but it's almost in the pipes. Hopefully we'll see that in early summer if all goes well.

Also still in the works for 2010 is the GOVERNMENT WARNING CD discography, and we MIGHT even see that BAD ADVICE 7" surface this summer. Who knows?

Deep Sleep, Cloak/Dagger, and maybe even Southside Stranglers will be playing one of the shows, and I think I'll also be speaking on a panel on Saturday as well. So come say hi if you and yer purty mouth find yourself unintentionally lost in the mountains / backwoods of western Virginny.

Oh and WASTED TIME is playing CHAOS IN TEJAS this year in Austin ... two shows, one on Thursday and one on Saturday. Check your local internet for show times and details.

I think that's it for now ... I doubt anyone made it this far down. :(

If you did ... thanks for reading!!!!
